Return to article: How to Give Mom a Great Mother's Day Without Spending Money
on 6/30/2006 For kids: Make your mom some coupons and have them say for example: "I will walk the dog or clean the house." That way she can give them to you whenever she feels the house gets dirty or the dog needs to be walked.
on 11/22/2005 For children of all ages: Get up early and dress in your best clothes (be creative) and let your mom know that you will be her buttler or maid for the day and follow her wishes. Keep a straight face and make her feel she's the Queen of England.
on 11/22/2005 Cross-stich all the names of mom, dad and children in a puzzle form, crossing the same letters together. Then place it in a picture frame. You can practice on paper first to get the blueprint. This creates a wonderful memory & a great conversation piece.
on 11/22/2005 You can record a tape of songs about mothers or thank-yous for her. It's inexpensive and means a lot!
on 11/22/2005 Make coupons for mom. Good for a back rub, doing dishes for a week, car wash, breakfast in bed, free babysitting, bouquet of flowers, a bubble bath, a foot massage, night at home with movies and popcorn, a free chore. Illustrate and staple.
on 11/22/2005 Dress up as her favorite singer and perform one of her favorite songs - with your siblings or solo.
on 11/22/2005 Make sure you tell her "happy Mother's Day" before you have to be reminded. Most importantly, thank her and tell her that you love her.
on 11/22/2005 Find a book of poems in the library and pick your ten favorites -- ones that you know she'd like. Then write them out on paper, put a backround of construction paper, and put the title on the top with magazine letters. She'll love it! Mine did.
on 11/22/2005 Creatively decorate a large jar (maybe a pickle jar), including the lid. You can even title the jar if you like. Send members of the family 5 pieces of paper to write their favorite memories with mom and place them all in the jar.
on 11/22/2005 Give mom a day of peace and quiet. Don't fight with your siblings; keep the music at a level tone; maybe even ask your friends not to call until Monday, especially if your phone rings every 3 minutes.
on 11/22/2005 I would wake up about 45 minutes before I knew mom would be up. I'd make a menu for her listing all the beverages, cereals, etc., and give it to her in bed. I'd also include items I could cook - when old enough. She could then mark the items she wanted.
on 11/22/2005 This year my mom and I are having an "us" day for mother's day. We are going to do the things that we did when I was little, and of course we're going to spend the day at the mall together. Also, I am sure any mom would like a picture of you at the prom.
