I have an upset stomach right now, but every once in a while I get one. I take peto bismol. I drink diet pepsi (doesnt have to be diet obviously) not diet coke unless its the only thing around because pepsi has less of the flavor coloring stuff. I also eat saltines when my stomach starts to feel a little better and I can get some burps out from the pop. It helps me almost every time.

Yes, when you are not well enough to eat anything, but you wish to keep hydrates (which you should), you shouldn't drink water! Weird, I know, but there are no nutrients in water, and your stomach gets even more upset when it tries to break down the water to get them. Try drinking a clear juice to get some of the nutrients that your body needs.

Be careful not to take an antacid if you're nauseous. Pepto Bismol is your best bet for nausea. Antacids stop the flow of acid in your stomach. When you're nauseas you don't want the food in your stomach to stop being digested. That would make nausea worse! For heartburn take an antacid. For nausea, take Pepto Bismol.

What has always worked for me is the same pressure point used by the sea bands for seasickness; it works for any type of nausea. On the underside of your wrist, measure three fingerwidths down from the crease where your hand meets the arm. Apply constant pressure using one or two fingers in between the tendons at the spot measured to. Upset stomach should alleviated in about 5 minutes.

Drinking peppermint tea or sucking on peppermint candies is known to soothe an upset stomach. Chewing on peppermint gum isn't recommended, because the act of chewing can make nausea worse.
Make sure that if you drink ginger ale to settle your stomach, you're drinking a brand that actually contains ginger root. These are mostly found in health food stores, like Whole Foods and Trader Joe's. Check the nutrition information for ginger. Popular brands like Canada Dry and Vernor's don't actually contain ginger. You can also try eating ginger snaps.
Slowly eating dry crackers (like Saltines) helps if you're nauseous.
If you have an upset stomach and are vomiting, remember to wait at least an hour after you last vomited to attempt to eat. Follow the B.R.A.T. diet - bananas, rice, applesauce, and dry toast. Slowly sip clear soda, water, herbal tea, or sports drinks (like Gatorade) that contain electrolytes. Make sure to replenish your fluids, as vomiting can lead to dehydration.

I find any of the following helpful in soothing an upset stomach:
1. Make some Jello, but drink a little while it is still in its liquid state. This will coat and soothe your stomach.
2. Try drinking cola syrup, which can usually be purchased at your local pharmacy (ask the pharmacist if you don't see it on the shelf!). Pour a little over ice chips and sip it slowly. I believe this also works by coating the stomach.
3. Try any form of ginger - ginger syrup, ginger chews, etc. It can be purchased at Mother's Market, Trader Joes, Whole Foods, etc., or sometimes in the "natural foods" section of a regular market.
