If you can treat the area with alcohol, consider that. When my son forgot a bottle of chocolate milk under the front seat one July, we were greeted three days later with severe punishment. i poured a bottle of wintergreen alcohol over the spot on the floor, and it killed the bacteria that caused the smell immediately. We left the car windows open to air out for a day so the alcohol could evaporate.

I found a special carbon filter odor eliminator called Innofresh auto odor eliminator that I bought at Checker Auto and I love it. Totally unscented and it actually get's rid of odor rather than masking it and believe me, my car smelled. I really recommend this little odor eliminator. I bought mine at Checker Auto

I recently spilled car milk on my car seat and after trying Woollite Oxy Deep for Pet Odors, car upholstery cleaner, baking soda and water, and another carpet cleaner I came across DooDoo VooDoo. It's a little on the expensive side because you are buying a concentrate product but it is the only thing that worked. After 2 treatments, it completely removed the sour milk smell! Plus, theres not perfume so I didn't have to smell any other rancid smells after the milk was gone. The product has other uses too: animal pee, vomit, etc. Hopefully this will help others from enduring the smell as long as I did.
