The whirlwind grip is very similar to the Seemiller grip, but differs in that only the thumb is placed on the backhand side of the bat. It is excellent for backspin, forehand chop, block and an unorthodox smash. The whirlwind smash is executed by striking the ball at a high angle of elevation with backspin. Otherwise, all aspects are similar to those of the Seemiller grip.
