Return to article: How to Choose a Flattering Swimsuit
on 6/24/2008 I recommend - http://swimgoddessdesigns.com/ Halters & embellishments are everywhere & this site is cheaper than Victoria's Secret. Plus everyone won't be wearing the same suit as you.
on 6/19/2008 I also recommend Victoria's Secret swimsuits. They're pricey, but you can get good deals if you search for coupon codes and wait for a sale.
on 1/14/2007 Being a large busted woman I have had SEVERAL swimsuit failures in my short 2 decade lifespan, I am still learning, but my best discovery is the HALTER, I find it flatters best, while still supporting. You still need a top that gives you some support elsewhere though, otherwise it tugs a lot on your neck, I recommend underwire. Victoria's Secret has a pretty good collection & I've had a couple successes with SwimIn.
on 8/8/2006 Swimsuit season is a time that girls let too much hang out. Remember when you go to buy your new suit that you want it to look good but you also don't want to appear immodest or give away so much of yourself that you don't have anything left. So, go out, have fun,and look great but remember what's important to you at the same time.
on 8/8/2006 If your flat chested and embarrassed by that, get one of the bathing suits that go straight across and tie behind the neck (from the center) or strapless. This way the padding will give a full look and you will feel comfortable and sexy in your bathing suit!
on 7/4/2006 If you have a really round bum, search for a bottom that has a skirt over the top of the bikini. The skirt should only reach halfway down the bikini length. This way, you're not flaunting around a bouncing butt and your cheeks feel snug and look great.
on 6/30/2006 I was blessed in the hips and not in the breasts. I look like a pear if I don't wear a good push-up bra! I found that there is no swimsuit with a push-up bra to be found anywhere! I began looking for a tank suit and was resigned to wearing my bra under it so I can proportion myself when I found a suit I dearly loved! Again, though it had only a piece of elastic and some floppy cups for support! Determined, I set out on a mission and found glue in waterproof push-up cups for swimsuits on eBay! They are the best, and now I can wear any swimsuit and look right!
on 3/21/2006 This may seem mundane, but few women do this. When fitting swimsuit tops (this applies particularly to the well endowed), lean forward grip the top at the underwire or string fold and shake your bust. This will stretch the fabric to form around your bust. Now stand up and insert your hand into the cup and lift each breast, then adjust the straps to suit. You will find - if the cut is good - that you have well formed support.
on 3/21/2006 As the swimwear designer for pageant entrants and general public, I thought I might give my 10 cents worth. I agree with the get naked advice, because underwear does not give you the true feel and fit. When searching for swimsuits always take a mini pad for hygiene protection. Naked is then not a problem.Another point, I hate to see panties creep on women. When fitting, part your legs about a foot and a half, then do a full squat. You will be sure to find that the suit that does not creep up will make you queen of the beach. A small curve into the bottom is fine, but no more than that.
on 3/16/2006 Whether your upper body is lamentable or the talk of the town, many of us have that flab in our thigh/butt area. To minimize this, get a boyshort bottom. I love it! It hides the extra fat on my thighs, and makes me feel really great about myself, and that's the sexiest part.
on 3/15/2006 Watch for shops that have the latest styles, they tend to sell Junior women sizes. These sizes are for teenagers that have not developed their bust, waist and bottom. The swim suit bottoms generally show the crack, the waist feels really tight and the tops allow a D cup to bust out. Specialty shops and higher end department stores have a better selection of average woman sizing.
on 1/13/2006 When buying (particularly small) bikinis or low cut one-pieces, put them on in the change room and then jump up and down. Even if you are buying your swimsuit mostly to look good, at some stage you will probably want to actually swim in it, and it will be no good if you fall out with the first dive or wave.
on 11/22/2005 If buying a bathing suit before summer or spring break, you have time to get a tan and toned up. Think of how much better a bathing suit will look with your tan. This does wonders for bathing suit shopping. Remember, most dressing rooms have horrible lighting and are designed to make you hate yourself.
on 11/22/2005 Take of your bra, pants, and socks, so that you are completely naked. Only then will you be able to tell if it fits.
on 11/22/2005 Take no notice of the signs in the shop saying "Leave your undewear on." Get naked in the changing room. Only then will you know if it fits.
