on 2/13/2008 Valentine's day can be great single. Last year we had an anti valentines day girls' nite with Girl Talk and Mall phone and lots of great food. Alternatively, I know some guys who went out to the bar for some drinks and fun and they had a great time too. It can be a special day for everyone! Here are some more ideas on how to ramp up your Single's Valentine's Day: http://sophiasparx.blogspot.com

on 1/18/2008 Use Valentines day as an actively seek a partner day, so many places put on singles evenings so get your girlfriends or male friends together and head for a singles party. Bar Salsa is doing a nuts and bolts singles party with 3 course meal and dancing till 2am for just £14.95 so its quite affordable. You don't even need a partner to join in the salsa classes; who knows who might meet

on 2/9/2007 Being single on Valentine's day is nice - you don't have to spend much money. Be happy, don't sulk and be sore loser like this article tells you to be!

on 2/9/2007 This is the first year I will have a boyfriend during Valentine's Day. Over the years I learned to deal with being single. I used to rent a good movie and have a nice dinner to honor myself. As I got older I had single friends during this time of year and we would make it a friends night out. We would all go to dinner together and go see a movie. Look be your friends Valentine or call one of your parents or other family members let them know how much you love them on this day.
Happy St. Valentine's Day!!!!

on 3/13/2006 My first year in college, our student government executive board was all female. My friends and I were young, smart, independent, well-liked and single! So for Valentine's Day, we coined the term "Singles' Appreciation Day." we all wore black (in the best of humor), gave each other roses, and shared a huge cake brought by a married staff member (who, by the way, wore her black with a red jacket - in honor of both her "taken" position, AND her full support of S.A.D.!) This tradition continued for several years, although the participating members have changed. Still, even those with "s.o.'s: are eager to join in for a celebration of individuality and spunk and love of life! :)

on 3/11/2006 If you're single and genuinely can't face the over-sentimental approach of 'making someone else happy will lead to your happiness', just use Valentine's Day as an excuse to ignore anyone who gushes about how wonderful their object of their desire is. It'll make you feel better than if you sit there and politely grind your teeth while you smile and say "I'm so happy for you."
Better still, go out with all your single friends to somewhere that is unlikely to be romantic (a pub or bowling alley) and laugh the night away. It's worked every year of my life so far, so I'm not giving it up anytime soon!

on 3/7/2006 If you're single on Valentine's Day, there's nothing that cheers you up more than spending it with a good friend who's also single. I'm spending it with a good girlfriend of mine who's also going to be single on Valentine's Day. There's nothing wrong with having a good friend be your sweetheart for the day!

on 3/3/2006 I am a divorced mother with one daughter, and I am currently single. Even though it won't be my regular day to have my daughter, I have asked my ex (who does have a girlfriend) if I could have our child for the night of Valentine's. Spending time with your child will remind you of everything you have to be thankful for, even though you're single! You could also offer to babysit for a married friend, which will be a good deed and a diversion!

on 11/22/2005 Of course we hate being alone Valentine's day, but cheer up! All you have to do is treat yourself to a lovely day and end it with another single friend. Watch a lot of comedy films. Never watch a romantic film if you're alone on Valentine's day.

on 11/22/2005 Buy some flowers and chocolate, write a card in a disguised handwriting, and give it to a single friend (who you think feels low) on Valentine's Day. Then watch them enjoy the mystery of their secret admirer.

on 11/22/2005 It is true that we all are subject to internal weakness and are striving towards satisfaction in the opposite sex. However, there are lots of good things that you can do alone.
1. Watch Lord of the Rings, the Matrix, etc.
2. Play or stroll in the park.
3. Eat.
4. Chat with friends.
5. Do something creative - painting, wood craft, etc.
6. If nothing else, you can just sit around and surf the net to find more tips!

on 11/22/2005 There's nothing more powerful than seeing how fortunate you really are. Visit the hospital or go to a nursing home and distribute candy and flowers to the patients. You'll come away realizing that being single on Valentine's Day is no big deal. Besides, it's only one day in the year, and most people overspend because they feel obligated to give their mate (who gets on their nerves the other 364 days) a "memorable" gift.
There's always someone worse off than you.
