Return to article: How to Wax a Car
on 3/25/2008 Absolutely Wrong! You should never wax in small circles on modern clear coat paint. You must apply the wax length wise along the cars design lines. Then buff off the wax length wise. Small circles will leave ugly swirl marks on your paint forever.
on 3/21/2008 These are decent generic car waxing comments. If you have a sports car, which has a unique set of surfaces (compared to something like a Suburban) and is easier to scratch, you should check out the videos at https://www.adamspolishes.com/t-Videos_DVD5_18.aspx
on 2/21/2008 Waterless car washes are another highly effective auto detail method today with an increasing popularity leading to increased research and chemical innovation. The question remains, which waterless car wash is the best? Ask yourself, if they are all saving large amounts of water and are great for the environment, the next question would have to be, which is the best for my car and the most user friendly. Some Waterless car washes are actually wash and wax in one, and others require separate applications, which in the eyes of someone trying to conserve time and energy, this may seem counterproductive. But the wax adds valued protection and a deeper shine. Ensure that it is a carnauba wax, though. Does the product have to be mixed, shaken, pumped- if so, it is a 2 (or more) part mixture that looses its consistency as it sits for a period of time,,, Is it in a pump bottle, poure

on 10/12/2007 Check out Surf City Garage. I have tried all the carnaubas from everyone Meguiars, Mothers, Eagle One. I was at the Orange County Fairgrounds for a car show and found a new one that tops them all. It's easy to apply but lasts a long time and it is all #1 carnauba. Surf City Garage Barrier Reef Carnauba Wax is the name. They have a website, I think. These guys have a complete line of products and had this massive booth and their own massive collection of muscle cars, looks like they are here to stay. Friendly guys, I talked to them and they said they formulated and manufacture everything themselves. Very cool.
on 1/12/2007 Go to your local auto parts store and pick up a bottle of 3M prep solvent. Apply it onto the car with a paper towel. It's the same as what's used at professional detail shops.
on 8/8/2006 Purchase a 2" throwaway brush, like the one's you can get in paint departments at most stores. Cut the bristles back, straight and flat as possible across the bristles, about a third of the way up. I used a good pair of scissors cutting a bit at a time across the thickness (short direction) of the bristles. Using it on the narrow edge, simply brush away the excess waxes along the edges of striping tape, etc.. Makes a simple clean-up tool and will stay in shape and last a long time.
on 6/30/2006 Use a detail brush or a stiff toothbrush with a little WD40. This should do the trick!
on 4/1/2006 You can cut your waxing time and still make your car look great by doing these:1) Wash your car thoroughly. Clean and dry it thoroughly. This is very important.2) Pat some wax all over the section of the car (eg: Hood-pat wax all over, like spots.)3) Using the back and forth motion, apply wax evenly to car.4) Using a good dry cloth, dry car. DO NOT use force. Let the wax seal the car.You can finish waxing your car in 30 minutes, good and proper.
on 11/22/2005 I've worked at Turtle Wax Car Wash for almost 2 years and I have waxed hundreds of cars. I can say from experience that waxing in a circular motion by hand can leave streaks, especially on darker cars. Anyone who waxes cars often knows that streaks are a big hassle. Use the side to side motion, it works much better. Box small areas off going one way then after it dries go over it the other way with a clean cloth.
on 11/22/2005 If you wax your car once to twice a month and do not get the chance to give a second coat, use a between wax finish such as Wax As-U-Dry by Eagle One. It keeps your paint surface both smooth and shiny.
on 11/22/2005 Instead of waxing the whole car at one time, wax it in stages. First the hood, then the roof, then the trunk, and finally the left and right sides. This way, you won't have to worry about overdrying or wax build-up.
