on 3/25/2007 I've had 2nd, and 3rd degree burns on my tongue, and I've found that 'Anbesol:Maxium Strenght' really helps, just rub it on your tongue, and it numbs it. Plus you can get it at most places (even places like Wallmart), I always have some 'Anbesol'with me, in-case I burn my tongue (which is a lot) Well I hope that helps :~D
on 1/4/2007 dont laugh but cold milk .... sticking your tongue in cold milk helped my little boy soothe his burnt tongue.
on 9/24/2006 I burnt my tongue on a hot fork after roasting a marshmallow, I heard it sizzle. The burned spots went white immediately. Frozen berries, ice water and ice poles soothed the burn. Two days healing time.
on 8/28/2006 Try putting plain sugar on your tongue after you burn it. The sugar not only helps soothe the pain, but also helps your sensation of taste rehabilitate also.
on 6/30/2006 Sucking on an anesthetic sore throat lozenge helps relieve the pain of a burnt tongue.
on 2/21/2006 If you get a piece of ice, pour honey on it, and then put it on the burnt part of your tongue it helps numb your tongue and cool it off.
on 12/12/2005 I have found that sucking on ice cubes right after burning your tongue can help sooth the pain. Although I have not found a way to make it heal quicker, getting a glass of ice and sitting down to watch a movie can help take the pain and your mind off a burnt tongue. I haven't tried any of the other tips, but next time if you put a finger in your hot cocoa before drinking and it feel OK for the finger then I would say it's OK for drinking. After burning your tongue, try and stay away from hot foods that may irritate your tongue more.
on 11/22/2005 Let tea brew until it is as strong as you can tolerate it, then let it cool until it is warm, but not hot. Drink it slowly, gently swishing it around in your mouth and allowing your tongue to soak in it. The tannin in the tea soothes the pain and temporarily reduces the sensitivity of the burned area. Dark teas, like black or orange pekoe tea, are rich in tannin. Herbal teas made from plants and parts other than tea leaves may not necessarily be rich in tannin.
