Comments on How to Keep Your New Year's Resolutions

  • Erin Elizabeth Cheney Dec 29, 2009
It makes much more sense to me to begin a resolution for the new year at a point in the year when you feel you will be most successful with your goal rather than beginning it January 1st just because it's the beginning of the new year.

I like the idea of having the "alternative" date as it removes some of the pressure usually associated with New Year's Resolutions.

If your resolution is to lose weight, celebrate if you lose a pound. If you do not lose a pound or you gain two pounds, celebrate. Celebrate your resolution to make a change in your life. Celebrate your resolve even when you might gain a few pounds. Resolutions are about making long term changes in your life not about day to day numbers. Continue to be proud of yourself and your goals and realize that they will not happen overnight.
