look...i came on here looking for something that i could make myself...using ingredients that i already have in my home...and it turns out that some of the ingredients i have to go out and buy...i mean, come on!...who the hell has cream of tartar just lying around? if i need to go out and buy an ingredient for an at-home cleaner, then i might as well just go out and buy DRAN-O

Thanks all of you. The baking soda and vinegar think really worked for me. Any body can try this for a clogged toilet.

My honey is a plumber, and he says "Never use commercial drain cleaners." He says bleach poured straight into the drain will be effective and won't damage pvcp / pvc pipes. Also, baking soda or vinegar routinely poured into drains will prevent clogs and odors!

Use 1/2 box of baking soda, 1/4 cup salt. Shake together and pour down toilet. Let sit for 5 minutes, then use your plunger for about 30 seconds, finally add 32 ounces of distilled white vinegar. Let it fizzle, plunge again for 30 seconds then flush. I have a very old home with bad plumbing and this works when a plunger alone won't do the trick! By using the plunger in between steps, you get the mixture well into the toilet drain, so when you finally flush, it goes down like a dream.

Simply use 1 box of baking soda, and one large bottle of white vineagar. Pour baking soda down drain and follow with the vineagar till all the baking soda is gone. This will remaove all the GUNK from inside your drain and is also safe for the environment.

If you have a clogged sink or toilet, mix one cup of salt and one cup of baking soda. Pour the mix directly over the drain and then pour in one cup vinegar. Let this sit for a few minutes, and follow with plenty of boiling water. This works so well, I don't need those expensive and dangerous chemical drain openers anymore.

The actual drainpipe was clear, it was the drain stopper that was full of hair and 4 strings from my mop. There is a screw under the round top of the stopper. Unscrew and lift off, remove buildup.
