Return to article: How to Pack for a Trip to Dallas
on 8/29/2006 In Dallas, you are more likely to see women dressing in cute skirts and flirty dresses than you might see in northern cities. You'll also see more costume jewelry worn. Perhaps it's just an artifact of southern culture from a different era. Ladies, take your visit as an opportunity to dress a little more femininely than you might ordinarily do and have fun!
on 8/8/2006 *No cowboy stuff. *Don't wear black - it's too hot.*If you're a teen, dress like you always do.*Year round casual is jeans or khakis and a baggy tee.*Don't say anything bad about the Dallas Cowboys or Texas A&M.*Don't say "howdie" or "Ya'll"!
on 11/22/2005 Also, don't forget that it can be pretty wet here from April-June. Our rainy season is just that, RAINY! So be prepared for the weather to change at a moments notice. In the morning it could be hot and sunny and that evening could be cold and windy. So pack for all weather types!
on 11/22/2005 If you're coming here (to Dallas) keep a couple of things in mind:*DFW Int'l airport is AWFUL on checked luggage, carry as little as possible, and if you can avoid checking anything, I would suggest you don't.*"Hot" doesn't even BEGIN to describe our March-September weather, wear breezy, thin clothing and a mister is never a bad idea down here.*We have great parks, etc in Texas, but the ground is hard and rocky (and flat) wear GOOD shoes and watch your step.*If you're coming in the winter (don't worry, it's just a 1-2 month time for us), keep in mind that we don't get snow, so if any precipitation is coming, it'll be a slushy icy mess.
