Return to article: How to Rid Carpets of Pet Odors
on 9/18/2008 I remove pet odors for a living. I use an "ozone box" which is basically a wood box we made to remove pet odors. We place the box over the afflicted area and run one of our Ionic Zone IZ-3600MGT ozone generators inside for 2 hours and viola, no more pet odors. If you're interested in making an ozone box, all it takes is 1 piece of plywood, some 2x4's, and some carpentry skills. (4x4x2). Place something heavy on top to push the box into the carpet and caulk all of the edges with silicone. Works like a charm.
on 9/18/2008 You need to use ozone shock treatments that create very high ozone levels. I found a $300 3600 mg hr ozone generator from Ionic Zone on www.air-purifiers-superstore.com that I bought and it removed not only pet odors but it also killed bugs and I'm told dust mites as well. Highly recomend.
on 8/4/2008 I use a product called BioWorld Odor Neutralizer around my house that works great! If my puppy has am accident on the carpet, I just get out our spot bot and add some BioWorld Odor Neutralizer to it and you will never know there was an accident. My house does not smell at all! Also, I give my puppy The Pet Beverage by the same company. It takes care of bad breath and body odor so with those 2 products, you will not know I have a puppy unless you see her! http://www.adbio.com/odor/odor-control.htm http://www.adbio.com/pet-beverage.htm
on 7/23/2008 Interesting tips! I have a very sensitive nose for odors and nothing I’ve used has worked better than the RGF Guardian Air Plug in Plus. I have one in my basement, bedroom, and next to the cat litter box! It eliminates those funky smells and makes me feel good about my house. I’d recommend it to everyone! http://www.rgf.com
on 3/7/2008 I have two dogs one of them or both urinated on my stairway and now I have a uterine smell that I am having a hard time getting rid of my boss enzyme post to remove urine smell stale smell it trying to clean it up without moving piece of the carpet
on 8/24/2006 The best and most effective way to soak up moisture is by using toilet paper. It soaks up moisture faster and better than a paper towel. I just keep placing several sheets over the spot and keep replacing the toilet paper until no more moisture is seen. Even a dry spot can be cleaned by using your own homemade solution and then soaking up the area. After all the moisture is gone, use a carpet cleaner or shaving foam on the area, then let dry and vacuum. The most important step is to get all the moisture out.
on 11/22/2005 If you follow the enzyme and shampoo treatment with a citrus cleaner, a cat will be less likely to urinate again on that carpet. Citrus has a tendency to discourage cats from urinating. In fact, Fresh Step came out for short time with a citrus-scented litter because citrus tends to be an effective air freshener. Cats wouldn't use it, so they quickly took it off the market.
on 11/22/2005 I usually try to soak up the urine on the carpet as soon as I notice it. I then sprinkle table salt on the spot and leave it there for a few hours, then vacuum it up. This seems to absorb any moisture that was missed.
