on 9/27/2006 When hitting the tit drum make sure that it is firm. This can be done by rubbing a hand over the top of the sheath or cross ladle. The same is true for the tat, although this is a little more difficult due to the severe angle of the upside down turn piece.

on 8/8/2006 Logically, you would want to clean the cymbals when they got dirty or dusty. Don't! Dust, believe it or not, adds body and sound to your cymbals.

on 8/8/2006 Make sure you:
1. Connect all rhythms to the simple beat.
2. Never think you can't do it, because you actually can.
3. Try your hardest.
4. At least start off easily.
5. Practice with some music.
6. Never think of playing the solos when you're a beginner.
7. Like music.
8. Make a simple count for your counting.
9. Play any music that you like.
10. Have fun!

on 8/8/2006 If you want a nice sizzling sound on your cymbal, take the metal link cord off of a ceiling fan, attach it to a key ring, and put it under the wing nut on your cymbal.

on 6/30/2006 Try experimenting with matched or traditional grip. Matched being both sticks held the same way, traditional being the snare stick held perpendicular to the wrist.

on 6/30/2006 If you're looking for a unique sound in your kit, buy a cowbell. Most drummers don't have one, or if they do, they don't use it very often.

on 6/30/2006 Don't forget that rim shots can help you keep time and add complexity to your beats. You can even go so far as to angle your snare drum away from you, so you can hit the rim easily.

on 3/13/2006 To get better at drums you should consider using a blindfold to "feel" the rhythm.

on 3/6/2006 There are several methods of holding a drum stick, but my preferred method is between the thumb and forefinger, with the rest of the fingers gently placed on the end of the stick for control. You have to experiment with hand placement; Some people hold the sticks higher or lower than others.
