Unfortunately, I have gained a lot of weight and I have been unable to wear my wedding & engagement ring. I thought my fingers had were small enough again to wear them. Two days later I woke up with the ring so tight, if I attempted to pull them off, my finger would instantly turn blue. I was freaked and came online. I tried the dental floss, but didn't work. Then I saw many using Windex. T WORKS!! I put a piece of ice on my finger & held it over my head for a little more than 5 minutes. Squirted a TON of Windex on my finger, twisted & with a lot of pain they both came off! I am so relieved I thought I was going to have to get them cut off! My poor finger, but I will never do that again & definitely going to the jeweler for a re size! -

my wife and i tried a combination of the above methods: wrapped the finger in cling film, elevated the hand, used a bit of ice...for about 5 mins. then she used the window cleaner, pulled, and (with a bit of pain unfortunately) got them off. success! some wine eased the pain thereafter. now to get them resized! -

Hi honey - Just for the lubricant I have to add that vaseline or soap will do the trick too. And it also helps to move the ring a little upwards and back again to make sure thate the lubricant is also beneath the ring and not only around it. -

Windex TOTALLY WORKS!!! I thought my finger might have been too far gone for it to work. It had gotten swollen over night as my newly re-sized wedding band was choking my poor ring finger. My finger looked like a sausage and I was worried I was gonna hafta wake up my husband to drive me the hospital. But I gave Windex a shot and 5 to 6 squirts later--I'm able to type this sans wedding band choke hold! The finger is still a little swollen, but I had to let others know to try the Windex. It may save your life. Cheers! -

Good tips! I usually don't wear rings because I don't like to have them get stuck! Maybe now I won't be so scared ;) -

I didn't wear my rings during my first pregnancy because I had a lot of water retention. When I had my baby, though I had gained 30 lbs I made the mistake of putting them back on. They got stuck. I didn't lose a pound and now two years later I want to get pregnant again. The idea of going through more weight gain and more swelling during the pregnancy and wearing my wedding band and engagement ring which already hurt, was literally making me panic. I woke up many nights hyperventilating at the idea of it, I'm serious. So I tried: 1-5 minutes with my hand over my head; 2-some minutes with my hand in icy water until numb; 3-Windex on that finger, some careful twisting and pain, and it was out in a second. 4-repeated #3 for the wedding band that was slightly smaller and cutting through my skin. It hurt a lot, but now I have no reason to panic and be a happy preggo!! Yay! -

windex definitely works it just takes a minute or two and you really have to squeeze the ring off it is a painful experience but it comes of after a while just make sure you put an ice pack or something on it for a few minutes before the windex or 409 to reduce a little bit of the swelling -

I work for Kay Jewelers part time, and usually we have to cut rings off expecting mothers all the time. No thinking myself I got my ring stuck and did not want to cut it off. it was so tight it was cutting me. I held my hand above my head for about 5-10 mins and then squeezed a baby fresh wipe on the ring and my whole finger. it was cold as well! I then twisted the ring side to side forward and backward to rock it up to my knuckle and then I kept bending my knuckle and it was painful but it came off. I hope this helps. If it wasn't so early in the am before the mall opened I would have cut it off. Kay Jewelers or Zales any place like that should have a little cutter that cuts the rings bottom and bends it off. -

I got a bug bite that made my ring finger swell so much that I had a hard time removing my wedding band and engagement ring. Another time, my finger swelled again but this time the ring was seriously stuck. After reading this and the comments, my husband was able to help me get it off by running my finger under cold water, holding it up above my head, spraying windex on it and pulling it with much force! It took a good 3 tries (oil, lotion, dish soap) and some pain but finally windex did the trick! -

Windex is amazing. I managed to get a ring off that had a bunch of sharp edges sticking into my skin. Didn't get cut or anything. There was pain, but not enough to complain about. -
