Thanks for instructions on how to freshen the shoes. Last week i bought a new pair of shoes which feel in muddy water and i tried to clean them with water again. But the bad odour was still with the shoe.I tried to follow your instructions and now my shoes are in better condition.

There is a simple way to kill the odor generating bacteria: UV light. My DPM sells a shoe tree called Sterishoe. The device runs automatically and the UV light kills all microbes and bacteria and viruses in your shoe.

Have you ever tried special cedarsoles made from fresh smelling cedar wood? It actually works pretty good! Just do a google-search for more information.

Cat litter works for me! Fill nylon hosiery (I use knee hi's) with cat litter, place in shoes overnight. They will absorb the odor and are reusable. Best results are with Arm & Hammer cat litter with baking soda or add baking soda to generic cat litter. You can also wipe your bare feet down with rubbing alcohol or hand sanitizer at end of day before you put those puppies up on the coffee table. Either one cools, refreshes and deodorizes.

This works great: You'll need: One pair of ankle-high socks and one box of baking soda. Put half the box of baking soda in each sock, tie off each sock so you have an oblong soda ball. Stuff the soda-sock into the toe of each shoe. Easy!

Use rubbing alcohol, it's good for the feet and the armpits. Apply and rinse after 30 seconds.

Save your old knee high nylons. Fill them up 1/2 way with fresh kitty litter. If the odor is really bad, add a bit of baking soda too. Tie the end. Place them in the sneakers, flattened, to cover the whole inside. Leave overnight. Enjoy fresh smelling sneakers in the morning! May be used more than once.
