The Tinfoil solution to sharpening scissors
i must say does work very well.
But whether or not its a good thing for the scissors
in the long run ~well who knows?
Time will tell i suppose

For fabric scissors try and remember to wipe the blades of your scissors after cutting with them. Often fabric fibres (particularly synthetic fibres)stick to the blades and this can cause the scissors to become stiff and difficult to use.

You can also take a screwdriver and act like your trying to cut it,use the spot just below the handle on the medal piece, works like magic, we use it to sharpen our upholstry scissors.

Take a small bit of aluminum foil, enough to cover a dinner plate, fold it 3 or 4 times and then cut into strips with dull scissors. Sharpens them every time!

If my scissors become hard to open and close, I spray cooking oil in the joint then I wipe the excess of with a soft cloth. Any cooking oil will work. And the joint will cut with less effort.

You can cut tinfoil with your scissors to give it a quick edge. I'll usually cut a few pieces of foil that I have folded twice, then I'll cut a few pieces of foil that I've folded once. Then I cut a few pieces of single layered foil. It works!

A quick fix, that is good for a few uses -
find a glass bottle and try to cut the neck with the scissors (holding the scissors firm and cutting hard.) After a few clips from the scissor try it on a piece of paper to try out. Repeat if required. This really works.
