on 3/20/2006 I have tried everything known to man for heartburn. Antacids, eating a bland diet, etc., doesn't help me, and I'm only 25! I started taking slippery elm bark, which you can get from any health food store, and my heartburn is gone! I had wine and tomatoes on the weekend and no heartburn! SE coats the digestive tract and is great for constipation too. Hooray!

on 2/15/2006 While drinking milk might provide a temporary relief, I've read that there is something in the milk that actually promotes more acid later. That's why a lot of doctors don't recommend dairy products as a solution anymore. So if you want to postpone the heartburn for a couple of hours, then by all means drink some milk. But if you want an actual cure, try something else.

on 12/8/2005 Drink about 3 cups a day and it will not only keep you regular, but will help with the reflux. It won't be as bitter as before when you burp it up. Sounds gross I know, but heartburn isn't pretty. Also, don't eat at night.

on 11/22/2005 Traditionally, doctors recommended raising your bed head by six inches or so. This never worked for me and I never found anyone that it did give relief to. Doctors are no longer giving this advice but it seems to linger on.

I have received better relief with apple cider and honey. My friend swears by an apple before going to bed but this works only intermittantly for me

on 11/22/2005 Drink 2 or 3 glasses of water and then after churning it well in your stomach by moving your stomach in and out for a while, throw it up. This eliminates all the acid. It not only provides instant relief but more importantly, it prevents the acid from causing permanent damage to your stomach through ulcers. I do this each time and I swear by its efficacy.

on 11/22/2005 I am a student-nurse and recommend that you see a doctor in any case of severe heartburn. Your malaise could be due to a gastric ulcer, which can burst and cause complications if you take the wrong medications.

on 11/22/2005 After many $$$s spent, I accidentally found that ANY cola put a halt to it. I also noticed when I get to be 8-10 lbs. overweight, the heartburn returns which is a real incentive to loose the extra pounds.

on 11/22/2005 I thank you for telling me about how to control heartburn. I suffer a lot with it.

Allow me to contribute one tip on controlling or getting rid of head aches and 'nousia'.
Drink sufficient clean cold water. Say two glasses before each meal.
