    Stay away from the free site development, free domains - free anything etc! Nothing is free and you will end up paying ten fold down the line. Go to a reputable organization that you can trust. Free resources lack the support, professionalism and stability of a professional. Get it right the first time and save time, money and remorse down the line!

    You bring up some good points, especially about checking to see where a designer's strong point is. For my website I ended up geting one person to do the programming and another to do the design.

    There is a company called SiteProPlus that does custom website designs for their customers for free. If a customer wants the site, all they pay for is hosting, which includes domain name, emails, etc.
