My dog chewed up a ballpoint pen and left several ink stains on my champagne-colored carpet. The first thing I did was get some old white socks and blot, blot, blot. In my case the ink was not completely dry (remember to turn the cloth to a new location each time or you'll smear it). When nothing else would come up I reached for the Soilove, a product in the laundry section of some grocery stores. This stuff is amazing and has never failed to get anything out of my clothing, so I decided to give it a try. In my opinion this product should be a staple in everyones home. I squeezed out a few drops directly on the ink and began to blot again. I went through 6 socks, so keep at it.This process took out about 75% of it. Then I put about a teaspoon of club soda on each stain and blotted some more. Back to the Soilove, this time using a more aggressive back and forth motion with a clean sock. I let it then dry and went back with a bottle of commercial carpet cleaner and a moderately stiff brush. For such a light colored carpet I was amazed at how much came up with this method (about 95%). Since both the Soilove and the carpet cleaner are foamy, I know that there are residuals and that I will need to get a professional cleaning, but I believe that the rest will come up at that time. Worked for me.
