My 3 year old daughter decided to try to paint her toe nails herself. She dumped out about 8 or 9 bottles of polish onto my bedroom carpet. From the darkest purple to a white nail tip polish...it was a disaster. Peanut butter has oils in it, which help loosen the fingernail polish. It might take a long time to get it all up and a lot of elbow grease, but it works!

Use nail polish remover, then follow up with shaving cream. Then saturate the area with water. Then; scrub, scrub, scrub. It works!

I spilled a two and a half foot line of dark, shiny, red nail polish on my light beige-pink carpet. I got it (mostly) out with hydrogen peroxide, water, hair spray, and rubbing alcohol. Then I covered it with plastic wrap and laid heavy textbooks on top for about 20 minutes. Then I took off the textbooks and plastic wrap and scrubbed with a new toothbrush, adding more rubbing alcohol as I scrubbed. I let it sit for about half an hour, then doused the whole thing in generic glass cleaner, letting it soak for five minutes then scrubbing with the toothbrush, working up a foam. I kept on spraying and scrubbing, then I let it sit for a night. The next day I poured two cups of warm water onto the stain and scrubbed, then dried the whole mess up with paper towels. I got most of it out, with a few chips of dried nail polish left that I'll probably just cut out.

In a bucket of hot water mix in 1/4 cup Dawn dish washing liquid 1/2 cup Mr. Clean, and Windex window cleaner. Soak the stain with Windex, then start scrubbing with the mixture (preferably with a stiff scrub brush). Start scrubbing away. Repeat the process until stain is gone. A couple of hours later, the stain is dry and gone. By the way, this was very pink nail polish. Also Windex is good for paint spills on carpet. Try and get the paint up as soon as possible.

My mom spilled nail polish on the carpet of my brand-new home. She was so upset about it, she cried when she told me. I searched online for ways to clean it. I had hairspray and tried it, and it worked! And with hardly any scrubbing! I simply cleaned off the hairspray stickiness with water and it was like the accident never happened.

Oxy-clean works well on carpets. Just put it on the stain, let it dry, then clean up.

When my 2 year old son spilled my red fingernail polish on our new beige carpet, I immediately looked on the Internet for solutions. I found eHow and read what other users used. I did not have any of the cleaners handy, but my husband did have a bottle of shaving cream. It took every bit of the nail polish out of the carpet! I had to spray it on the carpet and rub it gently and blot it up 3 times, but it worked! We rinsed the carpet with warm water and the shaving cream came out as well.

We used a combination of nail polish remover, hydrogen peroxide, Resolve carpet cleaner, Extreme Hold hair spray, a damp sponge and about 45 minutes of elbow grease on light beige carpet. After you vacuum over it a few times the stain should come up.

Resolve High-Traffic granules and scrubbing pulled most of the bright pink nail polish out of our cream carpet. Resolve is wonderful for any stain!

I spilled a bottle of nail polish on my grandmother's carpet. First we tried a little bit of nail polish remover, rubbed that in, then tons of water, rubbed that in, then we tried the alcohol, rubbed that in, then the shaving cream, then a little bit of peroxide. It was fading the color, but it was still very visible. My mom ran to the store and got some OxyClean and 409 carpet stain remover. We used tons of each. We just kept on doing a combo of all of the things I listed and lots of warm water, and scrubbing it with a nail brush! Eventually it was all gone!

I went right to the Internet after I spilled red polish on an off-white carpet. What worked for me? Nail Polish remover, scrub, Spot Shot carpet cleaner, scrub, soapy water, scrub, clear water. Lots of paper towels to blot up the excess moisture. Seems to me the thing that works is the scrubbing, more so than any product. I used a vegetable brush and it took me at least 30 minutes, but that stain is gone!

I spilled bright red Opi lacquer nail polish on my light beige Berber carpet. Thanks to one of the eHow tips, I used shaving cream and warm water with some vigorous scrubbing and the nail polish came out!

I used Palmolive dish soap and Peroxide. Dab and scrub. Got it from another site after trying shaving cream, SOS pads and Oxy Clean, all of which were useless.
