I think it is best to go with your friends. You will only get one or two (if you're lucky maybe more) proms, and if you spend it trying to impress someone you don't know, or may find out he is a creep. I went with someone I barely knew (not to my prom, but to his) and we both spent the entire time trying to get one to ditch the other, and then I didn't want to dance with him because he was just weird and complained the entire time. I'm glad it wasn't my prom!

You don't have to get smashed after the prom to have fun with your friends. Try things that you already enjoy. Trust me, everything is more fun. My college roommate swore that her after-prom camping trip was amazing and I found that going bowling in dresses and suits was absolutely hilarious. Plus, without the drinking it will be so much easier to remember the fun the next day.

Prom, for me, is how I truly remember my friends from high school. It was held two weeks before graduation. The two weeks between were filled with exams and tying up loose ends. My friends and I as a group barely got any time to be together. Luckily, one pal was smart enough to take a camera along, she tracked every single one of us down (there was 14 in our group officially) and and gave us a personalized scrap book of Prom and our time together. It's been a while since I've seen some of the kids in the book, but forever I'll have the memories of that awesome night, where we danced till we couldn't breathe and ended up jumping in a hotel pool. Please, document your prom, or else you will seriously regret it later on!

Make an effort to have a good time! Don't think about how uncomfortable your shoes are, or how you didn't win Prom King or Queen, or how your friend might be mad at you. Think about how happy you are to be out with your friends or how great it is that that special someone is your date. Be positive. Not only will you have a good time during the dance, but your memories of it will be better, too.

If you are a girl, make sure to bring comfy shoes along, and some safety pins. You (or a friend) could be in serious dress trouble, and these come in handy!

I have been to my fair share of proms and have even chaperoned a few. I'm going to let you in on a secret - 99% of all high school kids look like frogs in blenders when attempting to dance. Another secret - 100% of people have more fun at the prom when they're dancing than when they're sitting at a table moping. Go out and shake it! Look like a frog in a blender! It's okay, really!

If you are someone who doesn't find it very easy to dance, you might want to get someone to show you how....it will help your confidence, and you will enjoy your time more if you are into it with the others!!!!!!!

Make sure that your date or whoever is driving you knows where to go. Nothing is more annoying than being late for pictures, dinner and the actual dance because of being lost or not knowing where to park.
