When the temperatures drop, that doesn't mean you have to drop your current wardrobe. In fact, you likely already own garments and accessories that fit seamlessly within autumn's style spectrum. "Transitioning summer staples into fall is a lot simpler than you'd think," says Jackie Nasser, fashion director for RueLaLa.com. "Floral dresses, lacy skirts and flowy tops are all items that you can wear year round." From clothing items to shoes to accessories, using versatile and layerable autumn must-haves ensures your summer to fall transition is a smooth one.

Fitted Blazer

Model Kate Moss demonstrates that a fitted blazer can add a level of heightened sophistication to daytime apparel. Try one over a summer dress, a tank top or a breezy blouse, as Moss does. To really stand out, opt for a blazer in tweed or houndstooth.

Quirky Sneaker

The red sneaker donned here by actress Emma Stone pulls her entire outfit together. It reads casual, cool and comfortable. Quirky sneakers -- be they in a splashy color or look-at-me pattern -- pair well with practically everything when it's time to put away the flip-flops.

Dark Skinny Jeans

Skinny jeans are an absolute wardrobe must-own. Not just because they're flattering on an array of figures, but because they're incredibly versatile. Actress Olivia Wilde pairs hers with some clunky black boots, a graphic t-shirt and a comfy jacket for a casual, cool-weather ensemble.

Scarves

Scarves are a nice medium when you want a little extra warmth, but would prefer to skip a heavy coat. "Look for animal prints, jewel tones, plaids and herringbone," says RueLaLa.com's fashion director Jackie Nasser. "These will add a touch of autumn to any outfit." Model Monica de Tomas went for jewel tones in purple and teal.

Tights or Leggings

"Leggings and tights are your best friend," says Nasser. "Wear them under your dresses or your flowy, summer tunic-style tops." She recommends choosing darkly colored tights, stockings and leggings, as actress and singer Jennifer Damiano does here. Also look for interesting textures, such as ribbing or chunky knits, which really lend themselves to fall.

Classic Cardigan

Whether you prefer your cardigan long and flowy or cropped like actress Katie Holmes, you'll find yourself reaching for it often through the cooler months. "Don’t underestimate the classic cardigan," advises Nasser, who says to "cinch it with a skinny belt around your waist" if you want to try something different.

Boots

"Wearing boots with long or short skirts is a simple way to take your summer staples into fall," notes Nasser. You can opt for western style boots or stick to a more classic fall boot like actress Kerstin Linnartz does here. In addition to wearing them with skirts, try them with dresses, skinny jeans and even shorts (with tights for added warmth).

Denim Jacket

Nothing says "cool weather" quite like a denim jacket. Here actress Laura Prepon demonstrates how to transition your spring and summer floral dresses into autumn by pairing hers with a dark denim jacket and black kicks.

Belts

Any style maven ought to have a few belts hanging in her wardrobe. Nasser suggests animal print, faux snakeskin, metallic, suede and leather belts for autumn. Actress Rose Byrne opts for a leopard print that perfectly complements her black ensemble.

Hats

"Fedoras, felt wide-brim hats and slouchy beanies are a great addition to your wardrobe for autumn," says Nasser. Singer Beyonce is primed for fall in her beanie and scarf. Look for minimal ornamentation on your hats to avoid seeming costume-y.
