Brunch is the perfect meal since it gives you the best of both worlds: sleeping late and eating delicious, hearty breakfast food. You can go for something savory like an egg casserole or veggie crepes, or something sweet like homemade coffee cake or decadent French toast. And of course, it wouldn't be brunch without a satisfying beverage or two: Rich coffee, frothy hot cocoa or tea with milk and honey are sure to hit the spot.

Take traditional waffles to the next level by topping them with fruit compote. For an easy, healthy and mouth-watering berry compote, Chef Jennifer Hill Booker suggests combining fresh or frozen berries, fresh lemon juice and Agave nectar. Let it simmer for five minutes in a saucepan and serve either next to or on top of your waffles.

Eggs and Toast

Eggs and toast is a snappy classic brunch option that can be served up a dozen different ways. If you want to cut down on the amount of carbohydrates or calories consumed, Anita Laginess of the family-owned tomato company Dei Fratelli suggests grinding crackers and sprinkling on top of your eggs. "You’ll have your eggs and toast in one bite and will never miss the toast," she said.

Decadent French Toast

French toast is an American staple, mostly because it's as easy to make as it is delicious. To make this meal even more divine, add nutmeg and cinnamon to your egg mixture. Booker also suggests using stale raisin bread or cinnamon brioche to "give your French toast an extra rich texture and burst of cinnamon."

The perfect complement to a steamy brewed cup of coffee is a piece of delicious, moist coffee cake. For an even moister cake, Laginess suggests substituting tomato sauce for water. "It adds a healthier, tomato-delicious flavor as well as an unbelievably moist brunch companion for your coffee."

Want a perfect omelet every time? Booker advises pouring your omelet mixture into a greased and parchment-lined jellyroll pan. Bake it until the egg is cooked through, roll it and then serve. Add a side of sour cream and salsa for added flavor.

"Turn ordinary bruschetta into a breakfast delicacy by marrying your tired old toast with a renewed topping," said Laginess. She suggests topping toasted artisan bread with tomatoes, onion and garlic. Sprinkle crumbled bacon and cheese on top and drizzle with olive oil.

Breakfast sandwiches are another easy brunch favorite. Use croissants, toasted English muffins or halved biscuits and then add cheese, eggs and bacon. "Cut your raw bacon in half before cooking to make it the perfect size for sandwiches," advises Booker.

A glamorous brunch is all about presentation. Laginess suggests elevating the appeal of standard eggs by serving them in a custard cup. "Sautee some onions, green pepper, celery and tomatoes, then toss in a custard cup with an egg and some cheese," she said. "In just 10 minutes, you’ll be saying hola to a whole new way to look at breakfast."

Perfect Crepes

Crepes may seem complex, but they're just as easy to make as pancakes and far more versatile. You can go the savory route by adding vegetables, mushrooms and cheese, or take the sweet route with fruit and whipped cream. Laginess says to always mix your crepe batter the night before. "Stick it in the fridge overnight for a really light, fluffy treat the next morning. Overnight setting allows the mix to marry and rest together for a perfect union," she noted.

Breakfast Strata

Breakfast strata is essentially a bread pudding-meets-casserole. For a super savory brunch that's also quick, assemble all your ingredients -- bread, cheese, ham, mushrooms, bell peppers, onions, eggs and milk -- in a buttered casserole dish and refrigerate for up to two days before baking, said Booker. "Simply remove from refrigerator, bake, and serve."
