Suggest that your family members express themselves through art. Get mural-size plain white paper and tape it to a bare wall in your house. Have each family member draw and color a picture with a story. Once the artwork is complete, have each person tell his or her own story about each creation. “This gives your kids an opportunity to express themselves with expansive language that tells their story,” says Fran Walfish, Beverly Hills, California-based psychotherapist and author of “The Self-Aware Parent.”
