Never Use Your Flash

"Unless you're trying to capture something in the nearby foreground with the fireworks exploding in the distance, flash is an unnecessary hindrance," notes Bellucco. When shooting fireworks, there’s usually nothing nearby enough for the flash to light up, and fireworks provide their own illumination. If your camera doesn't allow you to switch off the flash, put a strip of dark tape over it.
