How to Identify and Care for an A la Mode Peony

The A la Mode Peony (Paeonia lactiflora) is in the shrub family and has showy flowers with dark green foliage. This plant should be supported with a wire frame or wooden stakes, as the flowers can get quite heavy, toppling the plant. This particular peony can grow to a height of 3 feet and a width of 2 ½ to 3 feet. It grows well in zones 4 to 8, and no AHS heat zone has been defined for this plant. The cultivar is A La Mode.
