How Does a Bike Fender Help Protect a Cyclist From Spray?

The fender of a bike can be constructed from either metal or plastic. In the case of metal, it will typically either be painted or chromed for aesthetic purposes. In the case of mountain bikes, the fender is usually made from a plastic-type material and is usually black in color. Bike fenders attach to the main frame of the bike and are situated over the wheel. There is typically a couple of inches of clearance between the tire and fender. Fenders are attached with bolts, which allow for replacement as well as cleaning if necessary.
