I like this strategy. I have recently gotten several friend requests and I do open up my comments to see if they have commented before while at the same time I'm checking out their page. It definitely isn't a race to get friends for me, but to friend the people I have somehow developed a curiosity, respect, or interest in. It's nice to see how other people view accepting people.
