I am a very reputable breeder and I take great offense to your notice " Avoid buying a "rare blue basset." This dog (which is really gray) carries a recessive gene that predisposes it to intestinal problems, food allergies and severe skin problems. Don't buy from a person who sells blue bassets, since a responsible breeder wouldn't intentionally sell a defective dog." I challenge you to prove these dogs are defective as I have a university degree in Genetics and never once have I had any claim of defect in my "Blue bassetts" and I always get my veteriarian to do a full exam on them. It is unfortunate that you are publicly discouraging this color when you obviously know nothing about them. Regards,
