    All very good tips with one minor exception. If you've brought someone to the ER who is having abdominal or cardiac problems, hold the water. Also, no extra blankets if the person has a fever, as this can cause an increase in body temperature. This "how to" article is well done.

    If mom is nursing you should know how to safely store pumped breastmilk. My kids were exclusivly nursed but did take bottles of pumped milk at the babysitters when I was in college. No peanut butter or seafood for kids under 2 is a great general rule! (allergys)

    This is a wonderful idea that is taking hold of the nursing aspect. I purchased ResponseLINK Emergency Alert for my parents. While they are not internet and technology “savvy”, this system is easy for them to use and was the best for them. They just wear a small pendant on their person, and if they need help they just push a button to call for help. This keeps me at ease while at the same time keeping my parents healthy by providing meal/prescription reminders, wellness checks, and even gives them daily wake up calls if needed. Since they are able to talk to a live operator 24/7 if the need should arise, it has provided me and them with more independence and peace of mind. We don’t have to worry about power outages as well since it has battery back up as well and is generated and transmitted through their existing telephone line.
