: Torque63 is just perpetuating myths. The blindness/death thing is a hold over from prohibition where dodgy traders would add methanol/isopropyl alcohol to the mix.
Though home distilled alcohol does have a minor amount of fusels, including a tiny percentage of methanol it is not nearly enough to hurt you, and you'd have to drink enough of the stuff to die of alcohol poisoning before the methanol got to you.
Fusels however will give you a nasty hangover (cheaper vodka for example, have them being distilled less), but distilling three times and each time throwing out the first and last 5 mL of distilled alcohol will get rid of any issue with that.
