by EarlTaylor on 08/25/08 : Good installation article with some excellent tips, especially about the nail from the roof underside helps prevent cutting in the wrong place. I do take exception with covering these vents with anything. Covering these vents is NOT recommended by any manufacvturer as they allow moisture to build up in your attic, causing more problems than you can imagine. The natural action of a roof turbine will cause it to turn in the slightest breeze or from rain or snow. Leaking roof turbines is practically unheard of from a proper roof turbine installation. ... more »   respond »

But would you have your attic exhaust all the retentive heat gain in winter time, because you decided to leave a "hole" in your roof? I have one freezer that was my Mom's and Dad's that has actually gone through a rust-oleum makeover because of it's age - because I always clean it up around the coils!
