Hi! I'm Ron, Thanks for dropping by. I like to read peoples articles & find out what they do. I like to encourage new people to write "HOW TO" articles. ( I believe everyone can teach us "HOW TO" do something.) I'm a married 66 year old retired man. ( I've written 23 articles please check them out.) Hobbies & Interests: COLLECTING TRUMPETS, eHow, eBay.I GOT MY MENDEZ TRUMPET ON E-BAY . . . PATIENCE PAYS OFF. I'm getting back to playing the trumpet after 35 years. AN OLD RETIRED MEAT CUTTER STARTS BACK AT THE TRUMPET. More than 35 years ago when my children were not much more than babies, ( 5 girls and 2 boys.) I used to practice the trumpet in the furnace room of our old house in Oshawa. ( I practiced while the babies slept upstairs,) There was none of this . . . Shh . . . the babies are sleeping. ( they got used to it and it didn’t keep them from going to sleep.) After my practice I would then get a hold of some trumpet records. ( the old 33s ) Rafael Mendez’s record “ Trumpet Extraordinary” would just BLOW ME AWAY. Just listening to him made me say. . . that's impossible . . . nobody can do that. ( then I'd think . . . I'd better go down cellar and practice some more.) I just started to research Rafael Mendez on the computer. His story would make a good movie. His twin sons Robert and Ralph should do it. It was sad when at 62 he got breathing problems and his playing started to deteriorate some. When on his 73rd birthday 517 trumpet players played Happy Birthday for him. ( That would have been something to see.) When it comes to playing the trumpet. He was without a doubt . . . THE BEST. I know that I won't live long enough to become really good at playing the trumpet. ( but they allow me to play some at our church.) and to go there and practice any time that I want to. I can't practice at the apartment until I get a silencer. ( or whatever you call it.) It’s about a $150.00 item that has ear phones and you hook it up to your belt and play whenever you want to without bothering anybody. When I get to heaven, maybe the Lord will send Gabriel over and have him give me the best trumpet you ever saw, ( a Gabriel Special ) and say, Here Ron, take this trumpet, and take the next ten thousand years and learn to play it. ( I’m a slow learner.) Well I won't bore you with a long letter, but at my age you just need to slow down a bit and smell the roses as they say. Happy trumpet playing.
