12/31/07	How to Submit to Your Husband Sunshowers: I am a very strong, independent woman as well. My husband loves me for those reasons. Believe me, I am no slave, nor am I mindless. This is a labor of love. My husband, also, is conscious of my willingness to submit and does not take advantage of it. The fact of the matter is that it takes a strong woman to be able to submit. Our relationship never worked well when we were both fighting to be right. Now, we discuss and try to come to a consensus on matters, when a consensus cannot be reached (which has hardly been the case), my husband gets the final call. Also, I would never be left with nothing. I have a degree and was a successful high school teacher at one point. I gave it all up because I felt I needed to be there for my family more. This article is not about one sex being better than another, that is utterly ridiculous. It's about how to actively love your spouse. more »
12/31/07	How to Submit to Your Husband By the way, I used to feel the same way as you Sunshowers. When the pastor read Ephesians 5 at my wedding, I rolled my eyes at my husband, no joke. That is only because I thought like you, that it would be making me a slave. But this is just not so. After much studying and council from other women, I understand submission more, and more. And it's been great! I feel good doing it. So, yes, I am trying to show others that it's not as bad as it may seem. Plus, as I said before, I really feel that, as Christians, we really should submit to everyone. That is, put EVERYONE else before ourselves. This is something I am striving for, but truly don't think I can accomplish. Again, it's to show love. more »
