I use an old leather belt, to use as a guide line, and use an electric trimmer. Works fine for me. Since my trimmer is a self sharpening one, no problem so far.:)

Once the belt is in place, [I hold the two ends together firmly in front of my face with my left hand]. Only the 'to be nipped off hair is showing below the edge of the belt now.
My right hand takes the trimmer to the lower edge of the belt, and swoops down to nip off the hair neatly. All along the hair line at the back. Double check with a mirror. Or rather two!
