This is a great story. Pigeons really can cause some damage, start to smell if the conditions are just right :) Depending on how the carport is built, with an underneath clearing, you'll have to deal with this issue, and not just Pigeons. We've had a nice carport from Coast to Coast which doesn't have any room for them to hide. Been happy with it, http://www.getcarports.com. Good luck with that and remember to keep under the carport clean and free of hiding spots!

Oh man, i don't know how to start, this lady has no clue what she is talking about. For starters... there is no for starters, everything she says is wrong. Please if you are interested in mycology check out the shroomery.org you cannot start growing from a bag, there are numerous steps before you can even think about a bag. You usually never start with spores unless you understand the hobby. You want to start off with "spawn"that is spores that have already germinated and spread through a primary substrate; mycelium laden water, or plug spawn are both ways beginners can start. You can use logs;but what she is doing in this video has nothing to do with the process. i don't even know what she is talking about.also the log she is using is to old. You can see the bark starting to fall off. The diameter of the log should also be no greater then 8 inches her log look like a good foot. i ca...

  • Comment by engrforever on How to Prune Raspberries on Sep 29, 09

I agree with prior comment. Looks like a grape vine to me........... Raspberries make new canes from ground every year, and fruit on 1st or 2nd year canes depending on type and pruning. Has Yolanda ever seen a raspberry plant in action?

  • Comment by janetolga on How to Cut Back Hollyhocks on Sep 15, 09

My hollyhock leaves are always full of holes even when sprayed. Can you suggest anything. The holy leaf detracts from the beauty of the flower.

  • Comment by mgbarb on How to Prune Raspberries on Aug 24, 09

My raspberries do not exhibit this type of growth habit. I think the diagram Yolanda is showing in the book would be more suitable to grape culture. The raspberries I have put up canes in late summer the first year, then flower, fruit, and die in the second year. The canes do not branch until spring of the second year and if I cut the growth off the ends of the branched part I would be cutting off the flower buds and thus the fruit.

  • Comment by dijait on How to Grow Hanging Plants Indoors on Aug 07, 09

Yolanda you'll have to forgive me if you receive this twice. But I tried to write a post and i was asked to create and account. Once I did, I don't know what happened. I have a boston fern in a hanging pot. my apartment is exceptionally hot. I understand that hanging it where heat rises, might not be good. I get lots of dry leaves showering to the floor (but also nice strong fronds coming in). Nothing I did helped so I moved it from the ceiling hook to an ottoman. It seems to be doing better. My question is, do you think the pot hanging thing is too short. It doesn't drop the plant down far enough into window. Would you hang a boston fern in the same spot as the plant you have in this video.
