I'm not sure who the terp is for this, but I believe that a thing or two was missed. Towards the end (before please. please. etc.), she signs: "you can ask to repeat.../again. again." It might be important to let the hearing people watching this know that deaf people are very accepting and will 9:10 times repeat for you and want you to understand. I am hearing myself & started my ASL 1 class this present semester. That doesn't seem long but I do have enough knowledge from my deaf teacher and new d friends to understand most things through ASL. I just post my comment to reassure people in the hearing culture that there is nothing wrong with asking b/c they are always happy to help you understand them & their culture.
I meant the above comment about the videos following this one.
GREAT. Thank you. I just started learning sign last week. I am hearing person who has a few new friends who are deaf. So I'm learning. I have one problem with this video: I'm seeing the words before I'm hearing what they mean. So I am constantly trying to remember what the last sign was before I hear it's meaning. Then I lose what is being signed next. Is it possible to hear the words before we read the sign? Or at the same exact time? I am looking up words, signing with my friends, and watching explanatory videos like this one. Thank you for posting.
Awesome!
I absolutely love this site. I found it by accident and it was a wonderful accident. Unfortunately I can't forward it to work and I can't duplicate this accident at work. I will try again tomorrow. I am just a beginner and will always be a beginner. I have a club at school signing is fun. We are doing spelling and simple signs. Who knows maybe this will get the interest of someone and they will follow in a new career. I work in an elementary school so the basics is all we need for now. I tell them that our class is quiet because most of those that use sign do not speak so therefore they cannot speak unless I call on them to read what someone is signing. I do know some deaf people can speak but you know what, my club is very quiet. Again thank you. Sheila
Thank you for posting these videos here. I am just learing ASL on my own and your videos are some of the best I have seen. Very enjoyable. Great job.
