I love hearing about people saying SOY has so many disruptive hormones in it? Are you kidding? Dairy cows are endlessly injected with vast amounts of hormones to keep them producing milk, not to mention growth hormones, antibiotics, and God only knows what else. Many of the cows are sick, dying, or wading in filth up to their knees...but people drink from that. How are soybeans worse?? Ignorance is bliss right? Soy beans are a wonderful food in moderation. Please.
Lots of great information, I just love soy products, I eat and drink these products all the time.
While I think this is a well written article with some good points, I have to say that I can't say I agree with it, especially for women. Soy has estrogenic properties and can disrupt a woman's reproductive system. But alas, this is an article about soy as a substitution, not as a cure all,.. so i'm not trying to tear it down :)
If intolerance to lactose is a problem, consider switching to raw dairy. Raw grass-fed cow's milk is an excellent, nutritious beverage for children and adults and can safely be consumed by many who have problems with pasteurized dairy products. Soy, on the other hand, has been shown to be harmful to one's health and can cause many chronic problems. Be careful!
Soy milk and other soy products are very harmful, especially to women. I know many people who began having serious health problems after they began including soy in their diet. For many of them it took years to discover the reason for all the new problems in their health because they were always told that soy is so good for you. Don't believe the hype - soy is poisonous and the processing makes it even more harmful. All the research that has found soy to be "safe" is funded by the soy producing companies. They had to find something to do with the toxic byproduct made from making soy oil (which is also not safe for human consumption). Do you own research, don't just listen to all the marketing! Heal your body with all natural foods prepared as our ancestors did for thousands of years. Don't get sucked into all the newfangled "health foods" that are killing and sickening our entire co...

Soy may not be the best alternative to dairy. Soy has been said to increase estrogen levels, which is not good for men, and can lead to weight gain in women/girls. There is Almond Milk, Rice, and others.
Just a reminder to men - especially to those of us bodybuilding - soy, while being an excellent source of protien also can raise estrogen levels in men. High estrogen, the female hormone, can produce enlarged breast in men. Proceed with caution.
Some people, like myself, are intolerant to the protein in soy milk because it is very similar to casein. Rice, hemp, or almond milk products are a good alternative.
