What is missing from the steps shown are the two 8 hour exams you must take. One is taken your senior year of college, and the other is taken after you have worked a minimum of 4 years under the direct supervision of a licensed engineer. Only after completing the work experience and passing these two exams, can you use the designation Engineer or Professional Engineer (PE).

Good tips! For those on the non-academic side of education it may also be helpful to list additional roles you hold for which you may or may not be paid. A great example of this is serving as a student organization advisor.
