Yes Fike, there are definitely pros and cons with each type of landscape light. I also have some solar lights around my home and they don't really light up as brightly as I'd like so there is a trade-off for trying to conserve energy :).
Yes Ballsman23, you can run the wires from your outside light and tie them into the LOAD side of the GFCI outlet. If the outlet trips, it will also cut the power to the light. -Dave
In many cases, the firmware upgrade will only work on a Windows XP machine. I have had success on both XP and Vista, but Vista does sometimes get fickle about the firmware upgrade. See if you know someone with a Windows XP machine and try upgrading the firmware on that, then your computer should be able to recognize the device. Hope that helps, good luck!
Form one Dave to another, thanks! Yes, there is a lot of fantastic content covered on eHow and it has become my "directory of choice" for finding out how to do just about everything.
Audrey, I'm down with being like Marty McFly, but I'm not so sure about the Huey Lewis deal! I don't think I can get past that part. OH, and that was one sweet pickup he had in his garage!
Yeah, there is usually a strip of tape, but it is more like a label since there is writing on it. If the label is missing, then you should see one set of terminals labeled "line" on the backside of the GFCI. Those would be the terminals you will use. The black wire gets connected to the copper-colored terminal and the white to the silver terminal. The second set of terminals is labeled for the "load" and they feed the next outlet on the line if there is one. If you have a regular outlet being fed from the "load" side of the GFCI, then it will also be protected by the ground fault interrupter mechanism.
It's true! Most places don't even advertise their specials, so it never hurts to ask about them.
Great article, Amanda! As a writer myself, rejections can get you down, but how we react to them is what makes all the difference.
Hey guys, I appreciate the great comments! Thanks for reading!
Very informative! Great details in the steps
