Carlc, thanks for posting some answers I'm sure people will find them helpful. Although ... Personally I use the search bar I downloaded next to my address bar. I very rarely visit my "homepage' let alone search from it & I still make money. I only visit my homepage to check my earnings every now and again and I've always made something. So I don't know about that homepage rule.
