In some cases these techniques may not be feasible as your finger may become swollen to 2x the size of the ring. It hurts very badly and waiting for the swelling to go down or icing it for a long time may not be an appropriate solution. This morning, a ring got stuck on my finger and we tried everything to get it off, but it was just getting worse. I was at work and was in immense pain. A coworker found out that there is a "rescue station" at the local fire department that has special tools for cutting off a ring. He drove me there and in 20 seconds the ring was off. They were happy to help me and just concerned because my finger was purple and hot. If the ring that is stuck can be repaired then I suggest getting it cut at the fire department.
