yes but that only works for a dog that already know what the command sit means but to a puppy who has no idea what you're saying a trick that always worked for me was when they are on the leash repeatedly say the command and lightly pull up on the leash until they sit, then reward them

just a note on the fuel source... by using hairspray you'll actually have to spray a lot to get it to fire and it will also start to gum up on the inside of the chamber after a while (I had to build a new gun because of all the build-up) the best source i have found is starter fluid. it's cheap and you only need a tiny squirt to get a big boom... it also has a safety feature using starter fluid because if you spray too much it won't ignite because there is not enough oxygen to fire.
