Migrating butterflies will lay eggs on your "host" plants, early in the season, there should not have be too many problems with volunteers eating your bounty at this point. Depending on your zone, mid-summer is when we typically find caterpillars in our butterfly garden. Plant enough that you are able to sustain wildlife, as well as your own needs!

I'm curious why you didn't go one step further and explain how a mechanic's lien (against a titled property) may be enforced? I was very successful in resolving a civil court case by placing a lien against the defendant.
