What I find helpful is the neck leash attached to a pole to keep them in place even when their body jerks a little here or there. I bathe my dogs at the PetCo selfwash and they have these pedestals with a neck leash attached to a pole and it helps keep my dogs in place even when they move. Try also luring them with treats to stay still. Keeping the drying part of their bath-time fun and treat-ful is a big plus.
