by AlexWilliamson on 08/18/08 : i have naturally light brown hair, im a guy, and i have hair down past my chin and in the back on my shoulders. i dye it black all the time. i just recently dyed it back black. BUT what i have noticed on every site is that they never tell you the EASIEST way to get black out. trust me, it isnt hard to get out at all. if you straighten your hair, everyday, it will come our pretty quick. what i do is i straighten it everday, wash it everyother night, and use hair cholesterol, leave it in for about 2 hours then wash your hair and use conditioner. i dye my hair black every 6 months. its almost back to my natural color every time i do that process. in about 2 or 3 months it will be pretty much back brown. ...

When making any handmade soap a ph between 6.5 and 7.3 is acceptable. It's better to have your soap on the lower end of the scale for a gentler blend. The lye does not hurt your hair or skin as long as you have your lye to oils ratio correct. The two go through a process called saponification which, simply explained, has the oils "eating" up the lye and making a gentle bar of soap. As long as there is more fats than lye your soap will be safe.

Hair-- The good news is that red is the fastest fading color of them all :). You didn't mention whether or not the color you used is a permanent or semi permanent color so I'm going to give you advice that will work for both. Find a clafiying shampoo like Neutrogena or a swimmers shampoo that strips chlorine from the hair. Wash your hair with it daily followed by a really good conditioner for color treated hair. This will speed up the fading process and within a week you should see a lighter shade of red. This is the easiest and most gentle method for slightly lightening a hair color without completely drying out your hair. Good luck!
