It's funny when I read this. I refer to it as My Buddha Touch Time. It's unavoidable. There's something about a big belly that just draws people to you. As for me, I don't really mind. If they want to touch my belly, it's fine with me. I enjoy the attention and it's nice.... I wouldn't sweat the small stuff. Enjoy the attention while you can because believe me, as soon as your little bundle of joy is born, you're the last person to get any attention! :) more »

Definitely call ahead to see if you can come. Instead of giving her chocolates or champagne, she would appreicate gifts that are more practical like diapers and food made by you. Don't overstay your welcome - 1 to 2 hours is plenty of time. Remember, new mothers are tired and need plenty of rest and TLC. Offer any help when you are there. more »

All newborn babies are as different as night and day. What works for one parent may not work for another. Only time and experiment with different techniques will help you solve that fussy baby. I find that a routine works best for baby. Breast feed, a warm bath and then quiet time each night worked best for mine. more »

Some great and sound advice, rachelachin! I hope all the new mothers read this. Just remember, don't forget to ask for help. No one is going to look down on you if you ask for help. I found that my mother-in-law to be the biggest supporter when I came home with my newborn. From the most unlikest places! more »

I find that having a Birth Plan is very important. Write out all the things you would like to have and do during your labor and let the nurse or doctor or whoever's in the room know. It'll help lessen the stress if the people around you know what you want. more »

My toddler loves those bubble baths. I also keep a handy assortment of bath toys nearby, just take out two to three at a time then rotate the toys. DO NOT ever leave your toddler alone in the bath for even a few seconds. more »

I use one of those charts that you can print from the Internet to train my toddler. She was into Dora the Explorer at the time so I printed a Dora Potty Training Chart. It came with print-out stickers that I can cut out and glue onto the chart. Worked like a charm because she was so excited to see the chart being filled. Towards the end, I got her a surprise present for filling out the chart. We don't do the Dora Chart any more because she's fully potty trained. The key is patience and praising when they do a good job. There's no need to rush because they'll get there enventually. more »
