Ford Truck Turning Specifications

by Steve Johnson

Ford trucks are deliberately made to have wider turning specifications for safety and performance. Since trucks have a wider and longer body when compared to other vehicles --- such as cars or even SUVs --- they need a wider turning circle to ensure their suspension won't get damaged or that their bodies won't bump external obstacles. Different Ford trucks have alternative turning specifications (cargo-bed size also plays a major role on their turning diameters).

Ford F-150

The 2010 model of the F-150 has three Cab options: Regular Cab, SuperCab and SuperCrew. It also has two cargo bed options: a 6.5-foot short bed and an 8-foot long bed. The Regular Cab with a short bed has a curb-to-curb turning circle of 41.7 feet, while its 8-foot variant has a 47-foot turning circle. The SuperCab and SuperCrew variants with a short bed have a turning circle of 47 feet. The SuperCab with a long bed has a turning circle of 52.3 feet, while the SuperCrew with a long bed has a turning circle of 50.4 feet.

Just like the F-150, the Super Duty F-250 is available with three Cab options and two cargo bed sizes: a 6.75-foot bed and an 8-foot bed. The Regular Cab with a short bed's curb-to-curb turning circle is 47.7 feet, the Extended Cab with a short bed is 49.1 feet, while the Crew Cab with a short bed is 53.5 feet. Variants with the long bed option have a curb-to-curb turning circle that ranges between 54.1 feet and 58.5 feet.
