In the history of automobiles, the 1951 Ford F-1 pickup marked a turning point in both styling and engine design. This meant better functionality and ergonomics in a time when the accent was put mainly on force and engine optimization.
The previous car-based lines had been much more bulky and inflexible. The 1951 Ford F-1 had more complex and aerodynamic lines. The headlight system was connected by a three-piece enforcing structure mounted on the fenders. The redesigned dashboard and the widened rear windows added elegance and style to the 6 1/2-foot bed F-1.
There were two different options available: flathead 6 and 8 with 3 or 4 gears, which generated 90 and 95 hp, respectively, and a maximum torque of 244 Nm. Considering F-1's half-ton weight, these engines were powerful enough to manage a fair GVWR.
The 1951 Ford F-1 used single PT tires, 6/6.50-16 and a DC rim type. Such tires were high standard back then; they were strong enough to support up to 1,215 pounds, depending on specifications.
