Niagara Falls, made up of three massive waterfalls that straddle the U.S.-Canadian border in upstate New York, draws 14 million visitors each year to view its splendor. Many visitors that fly in to see the falls arrive at the Buffalo Niagara International Airport or the Niagara Falls International Airport. Both airports are close to the falls, and offer several convenient airport transportation options to get you there and around the greater Niagara region.

Public Transportation

You can take the NFTA-Metro (metro.nfta.com) service to and from both area airports. For Buffalo Niagara International Airport, bus 204 travels between the airport and downtown Buffalo. From Buffalo, you can take bus 25 or bus 60 to get to Niagara Falls. For the Niagara Falls International Airport, bus 55 will take you from the airport to the Niagara Falls Transportation Center where you can transfer to a number of buses to get you around the region. Buses 57 and 25 can get you to downtown Buffalo.

Shuttles

Shared shuttles are available at both airports to get you to your destination in the Niagara region. Several area companies including Buffalo Airport Shuttle (buffaloairportshuttle.com) and Buffalo Airport Taxi (buffaloairporttaxi.com) have taxi and shuttle services. Rates start at $18 per person to downtown Buffalo, and $45 per person to Niagara falls, as of publication. Book these shuttles in advance to ensure a van will be available when you arrive. Many area hotels also provide complimentary shuttles for their guests to and from the airport.

Taxis

Several taxi companies at both airports will also transport you to your destination. Buffalo Airport Taxi (buffaloairporttaxi.com) is Buffalo Niagara International Airport's official taxi service, and charges a flat taxi rate of $70 per car, as of publication, to Niagara Falls. You can either wait in line for a taxi outside the airport terminal or make a reservation with Buffalo Airport Taxi ahead of time to have a cab waiting for you. At the Niagara Falls International Airport, Niagara One Taxi (niagaraonetaxi.webs.com) is the local taxi service that charges a flat rate of $60 to Buffalo and $43 to take travelers straight to the waterfalls.

Canada Transportation Options

If you fly into the Niagara region and want to travel to the Canadian side of Niagara Falls, you can find several transportation services, including airport shuttles and taxis. For example, Buffalo Airport Taxi charges a flat rate of $55, as of publication, for its shuttle from Buffalo Niagara International Airport to Niagara Falls, Ontario. Jetways Shuttle (jetways.ca) provides scheduled shuttle bus service between cities in Ontario and both airports daily. Many long-distance and tour bus companies also pick up passengers from both airports to go to Canada, including Over the Falls Tours (overthefallstoursniagara.com) and Niagara Air Bus (Niagaraairbus.com).
